English Union Debating Society​

Date: 24th January 2018
We are proud to be hosting the North West second round heat of the English Schools’ Union MACE debating competition. All high school students and parents are welcome to attend. The debates will take place from 5.30 ‘til 8.00pm on Wednesday 24th January in the main school library. There are three motions to be debated, with two teams proceeding to the next round:
 
This House would allow upper rate taxpayers to redirect a significant proportion of their taxes to charities of their choice
Proposition: Altrincham Grammar School For Boys                   
Opposition: King David High School Manchester (Sam Benjamin and Simeon Kudenko)
 
This House would prohibit the media from using software to cosmetically improve an individual's appearance
Proposition: Loreto Grammar School               
Opposition: Urmston Grammar School
 
This House believes that everyone should have the right to wear religious symbols at work
Proposition: Withington Girls School                       
Opposition: King David High School Manchester (Ariel Kaminsky and Omri Simon)
 
Florence Conway and Ethan Judah will be chairing.
