Mrs. T. Basger , Interim Headteacher
Having worked at the King David High school for over 28 years , I can honestly say that our school is a wonderful place to learn.
The atmosphere in our Jewish faith School is warm and supportive and our values of Emet and Emunah (Integrity and Faith) run through everything that we do. There’s a genuine sense of care and concern for every member of the school family.
The children here are happy and enthusiastic about their education, and they enjoy their time at school, making friendships that will last a lifetime. Our teachers are well-qualified subject specialists, well-motivated, and they know their students well, creating the right environment for learning. Academic standards are high, opening the door to Oxbridge, Russell Group universities and prestigious apprenticeships for those who aspire to these. The school takes a holistic approach towards education with personal development as important as academic progress, regardless of background or ability. A wide range of extracurricular opportunities give all our children opportunities to socialise and enjoy success outside the classroom as well as in their academic lessons. Excellent facilities provide a first-class environment for our children.
We aim to prepare our pupils to make positive contributions to society. We strive to instil the values that will help them become the next leaders of the community, reliable, honest and hard working with a passion to succeed in a supportive, respectful and orderly environment. We do all we can to help each and every child realise their potential whatever this may be. Our responsibility is to prepare our children not just for their exams but for their futures.
The King David High School has a unique character serving the Jewish community of Manchester and further afield. Everything we do at the school is underpinned by the Jewish heritage of our children, and the values of the Jewish faith. Offering the choice of both ‘Main School’ and ‘Yavneh’ routes to provide a range of options to suit the desires of the individual families we serve.
We have the highest possible expectations of every child who passes through our doors, we’ll aim to find out where your child’s talents lie and nurture these to the best of our ability. Your child will leave King David High School as a confident, empathetic, and well-rounded young adult ready for the next stage of their education, or to begin their working life.
This is a school for the children, and I believe that we offer what every parent wants for their child. Every day we see happy children safe in a nurturing and caring environment, it really is like an extension of your family. If you’d like to find out more about the school then we’d love to meet you. Jonathan Dover, Chair of Governors
The King David High School is founded on traditional Jewish values with a belief in respect, courtesy, self-discipline, diligence and the pursuit of excellence.
Our mission is to encourage each and every child to reach the highest levels of academic achievement, creativity and personal development. Equally, our aim is to create a generation who will be knowledgeable, committed to their faith and values and who will become outstanding citizens within the Jewish and wider community.
The King David High School has an enviable reputation. Over the years, the school has undergone a massive transformation and has now become the school of choice for many of the brightest and the best in the Greater Manchester region and beyond. Its achievements place it among the top schools in the country. Indeed, the results of Yavneh and Solomon rank them alongside the very best schools in the independent sector. Its ethos is aptly summarized in the school's mission statement: "...Excellence... the pursuit of excellence in every area of the curriculum is our primary aim, so as to ensure that each and every child achieves their maximum potential and beyond, combined with a warm and caring environment and with the teaching and practice of Judaism and its values..."
Alongside the ethos of excellence, academic achievement and personal development, great emphasis is placed on achieving the kind of atmosphere where learning becomes a pleasure and the school an experience to enjoy. The creation of a warm and caring environment is a founding principle of the school. The school goes to great lengths in its care for pupils. "...this is a happy school with a sense of purpose, a positive ethos, moral code and conduct... pupils are courteous, friendly, well motivated and enthusiastic.. relationships are excellent..." (Ofsted)
Not every child has the same natural academic ability, but every child has great potential. The school's role is to inspire and ignite the flame of interest and ambition and to cultivate talent in order that each child can realize their full potential.
