You Still Can't Stop The Beat

Date: 2nd - 9th March 2016
King David High School never fail to disappoint! Another top quality show to add to their list of productions. This year saw 'You Still Cant Stop the Beat' in action, involving over 170 children; 130 of which were cast and the rest crew! This massive scale production was held at the Middleton Arena and has blown audiences away. The opening number, the Lion Kings 'Circle of Life', included 7 different animal groups all wearing huge headpieces made by the schools art department. The multi-media presentation allowed the show to run smoothly between scenes where numbers were performed from shows such as Matilda and Blood Brothers to Fame and Oliver. An eclectic mix of dance routines, performances and even a splurge fight kept audiences engaged and entertained for almost 2 hours. Blood splattered costumes provided the visual spectacle that was 'Thriller'. The whole cast performing Michael Jacksons iconic dance routine was really something! A 12 piece orchestra lead by Pete Lovatt Head of Music, complimented the acts on stage and created an atmosphere for all those watching. All children from ages 7 - 18 were clearly enjoying this amazing experience as you couldn't help notice the constant smiles on everyone's faces.  The Drama & Music departments certainly know how to put on a show!
