Main School Purim Celebrations

Date: 24th Mar 2016
The Yavneh Yehsiva High School boys created a meaningful Purim by designating one hour to collectively complete the whole Talmud Bavli Machsechet / Tractate Megilla. They divided themselves into paired learning partners, with each chavrusa taking on a portion of the Masechta  to learn together. At 12pm in Beis Medrash of Yeshivat HeChodosh on Northumberland Street, close to 100 Yavneh boys excitedly converged and learnt uninterrupted with great joy and fervour- the atmosphere was electric/palpable. When the Gemara was completed, an emotional Hadran was recited by the two head boys Aaron Seitler and Yoni Schogger after which the bais Hamedrash erupted into spontaneous rekida singing and dancing kish echad blev echad deep into the afternoon. Yavneh boys worked tirelessly throughout Purim to raise money for Ezrah Umarphe for the creation of a 'Shabbat Room' in Wythenshaw hospital.
