Welcome to King David High School

Picture
We are pleased to welcome you to our school which is now housed in an ultra modern new campus.

The King David High school is founded on traditional Jewish values of respect, care, courtesy, self-discipline, diligence and the pursuit of excellence.   All pupils are valued for what they are and encouraged to give of their best and beyond…

Warmth and friendship permeate the school and pupils and teachers cooperate in a caring stimulating, academically demanding and, at the same time,  socially enjoyable environment.  It is the synthesis of academic rigour and care,  warmth and friendship which marks the uniqueness of the school.

The school’s outstanding academic achievements place it amongst the very top (non-selective) schools nationally (Yavneh and Solomon rank amongst the very best schools in the ‘independent’ sector).  It is noteworthy that a number of other Jewish schools (junior and secondary) are also ranked amongst the very best in the country. Academic excellence has always been an integral part of the Jewish mission. Faith and excellence make good companions and this is why faith schools are the jewel in the crown of the state education system.

The main school is streamed academically, with  the  Solomon classes catering  for the most academically gifted pupils, whilst the Saul classes set grammar school standards and the David classes provide a challenging and supportive learning environment.  Yavneh is a centre of excellence for the modern orthodox

Alongside the academic aspiration, we also aim to imbue our children with the knowledge of and the love for Judaism and Israel, together with an appreciation of the tradition, discipline and values we hold so dear.  Our mission is to produce graduates who will be equally at home at university and in the synagogue - at home in two worlds;  graduates  who will be model citizens and knowledgeable and proud Jews.

The success of the school is a tribute to the application and hard work of our pupils and to the immense dedication of our teachers and staff.  It is also due, in no small measure, to the supportive parents who  encourage and support their children, sustain the school’s ethos and help maintain the school with their parental contributions..

The children we look after are the promise of tomorrow…. the future of our community

May the school go m’chayil el chayil – from strength to strength.

The King David High School is founded on traditional Jewish values with a belief in respect, courtesy, self-discipline, diligence and the pursuit of excellence. Our Mission is to encourage each and every child to reach the highest levels of academic achievement, creativity and personal development.

The King David High School has an enviable reputation. Over the past two decades , the school has undergone a massive transformation and has now become the school of choice for many of the brightest and the best in the Greater Manchester region and beyond. Its achievements place it among the top schools in the country. Indeed, the results of Yavneh and Solomon rank them alongside the very best schools in the independent sector. Its ethos is aptly summarised in the school's mission statement: "...Excellence... the pursuit of excellence in every area of the curriculum is our primary aim, so as to ensure that each and every child achieves their maximum potential and beyond, combined with a warm and caring environment and with the teaching and practice of Judaism and its values..."

Alongside the ethos of excellence, academic achievement and personal development, great emphasis is placed on achieving the kind of atmosphere where learning becomes a pleasure and the school an experience to enjoy. The creation of a warm and caring environment is a founding principle of the school. The school goes to great lengths in its care for pupils. "...this is a happy school with a sense of purpose, a positive ethos, moral code and conduct... pupils are courteous, friendly, well motivated and enthusiastic.. relationships are excellent..."
