Reading
Read the Bereshit newspaper (on SharePoint – Language Department- Ivrit- Bereshit) – an introductory Hebrew newspaper for beginners.

Read an article, summarise the main focus of the article and rewrite it in your own words. Be ready to present it in front of the class.

You will be reading about the most contemporary and widely-used Hebrew.  The articles focus on Israeli and international current events, as well as holidays and Jewish values. You will read proper Hebrew as well as Hebrew slang words, commonly used phrases and even words that have been adopted from other languages. The newspaper includes Hebrew-English dictionary of the new words which- (The dictionaries also include transliteration which helps to know how to read the words properly).
  • For advanced readers use https://hadshon.edu.gov.il/ to read the daily news.

Vocabulary

  • Download the free app Duolingo or go on https://www.duolingo.com/ and learn Hebrew in a fun and interactive way.

Remember to  listen for details  and focus on words you know. Ignore what you don’t know and  try to understand it without having to read or use  the subtitles .
