Special Needs – Support
The school is committed, subject
to the availability of resources, to ensuring
that every pupil receives a broad balanced
education which maximises their potential and to
support children who have special needs by
providing them with appropriate levels of
additional support.
The school recognises that pupils
at the upper end of the academic scale are as
much in need of special support as are those at
the other end of the scale though their demands
are supervised by teachers/tutors, not by the
Special Needs Department.
Children identified as having
special educational needs (SEN) are placed on a
register which is reviewed regularly. Parents
may be invited to come into school in order to
discuss their child with the school. Where
necessary, ILPs (Individual Learning
Programmes) and IEPs (Individual Educational
Programmes) are set by the Heads of Departments.
The school has access to the
Educational Support Services, health and Social
Services and Educational and Welfare Services
both in Manchester and Bury, together and to the
Jewish Federation and other Voluntary
Organisations.
At this time, the Governor
appointed by the Governing Body with
responsibility for SEN is Mrs. Sandra Hyman. |
