Juvenes Translatores’ Languages Competition

Date: 25rd November 2016
Picture
On Thursday 24th November, students from the Sixth Form entered the annual ‘Juvenes Translatores’ languages competition sponsored by the European Union.

The prestigious ‘Juvenes Translatores’ contest was started in 2007 to find the best young translators in the Europe. With studies showing the ever-growing need for translation and translators across the contintent, the competition aims to raise awareness of the importance of translation skills and the need to reassess translation — as a means of ‘mediating’ between languages — in the context of language learning.

King David was one of a small number of UK schools selected to take part in this year’s competition. As we await the results, the school would like to congratulate Katie Cobb, Miriam Mikulasora and Ionatan Somekh for their enthusiasm, hard work and excellent translations.
