MEDICAL student Daniel Sommer has
been offered a place at Oxford
University for the last three years of
his degree course.
The former-King David High School pupil
is the only student from London's five
medical schools to be accepted into
Oxford for the clinical stage of his
studies.
He said: "I had the interview last
week and it was really hard.
"It was very academic and
science-based and they asked a lot about
my personality.
"When I found out I had been
accepted, I was very surprised.
"I hadn't told anyone that I was even
applying.
"So when I told my friends that I was
going to be leaving they were a bit
shocked but very happy for me."
Daniel, son of Maxine and Anthony
Sommer, of Prestwich, is currently doing
his pre-clinical lectures at University
College London and will start at Oxford
in September.
He will spend the next three years
working in hospitals and GP clinics,
although admits he hasn't decided what
branch of medicine he plans to enter.
