The school uses a computerised system known as “I.R.I.S.” to monitor good and poor behaviour.

Behavioural Management System – IRIS

NEGATIVE POINTS

These are points accumulated in one calendar week:

• 3 points                       One lunchtime detention (from one level 2 offence or three level one offences)

• 6 points                       An after school detention

• 9 points                       An after school detention plus a lunchtime detention

• 15 points                     Half a day in inclusion

• 20 points                     A day in inclusion

• 25 points in a month     Daily report

The points are cleared when the relevant punishment is served. Failure to attend lunchtime detention will result in an after school detention. Failure to attend an after school detention will result in a day in inclusion plus a re-scheduled detention.

TYPE 1 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS - 1 POINT:                

• Make up/jewellery/uniform violation

• Dropping litter                               

• Inappropriate behaviour towards other students                           

• Running/rowdy behaviour                                                           

• Lack of equipment                                                                     

• Minor disruption of lesson (out of seat, talking etc)                       

• Calculated idleness                                                                    

• Late to lesson                                                                           

• Out of bounds                                                                           

• Prohibited use of phone/MP3 player etc                                       

• No homework                                                                           

TYPE 2 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS - 3 POINTS:              

• Bad language (eg swearing)                                         

• Failure to follow instructions                                         

• Misuse/damage to equipment

• Minor scuffle

• Failure to attend detention or other sanction

• Serious/repeated disruption of lesson          

• Misuse of ICT network                                

• Repeated lack of homework                        

• In company of smokers                               

• Late to school

• Significant deterioration in behaviour/attitude

• Out of lesson without permission                  

• Significant deterioration in Behaviour/attitude

TYPE 3 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS - 6 POINTS:

• Lying to staff

• Chewing/dropping gum

• Arguing with staff

• Fighting

• Smoking on school premises

• Walking away whilst being spoken to

• Refusal to acquiesce to sanction

• Rude/insolent/aggressive behaviour towards staff

• Disruption of formal test/exam/assessment

• Lack of co-operation

• Leaving room without permission

• Truanting

• Dangerous/reckless behaviour

• Possession of banned item

• Gambling on school premises

TYPE 4 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS - 12 POINTS:

• Open defiance

• Setting off fire alarm

• Theft

• Swearing at staff

• Deliberate damage to property

• Sexual harassment

• Physical assault on another student

• Threatening behaviour towards staff or student

• Physically obstructing staff

• Racism

• Bullying I all its forms

• Sending/forwarding threatening or abusive mail 

• Water (stink)bombs/flour/fireworks/eggs etc

• Possession of alcohol/drugs & paraphernalia/porn

• Strong suspicion of drug/alcohol use

• Homophobic. Personal or insulting comments to staff

TYPE 5 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS – POSSIBLE PERMANENT EXCLUSION

• Serious physical assault

• Dealing drugs/alcohol/pornography

• Possession of offensive weapon in school

• Any form of physical assault on staff inc. pushing

TYPE 6 BEHAVIOUR INCIDENTS – NO POINTS, INFORMATION ONLY

Rewards:

• 75         Silver certificate

• 100       Gold certificate

 Excursions and day trips will be arranged for pupils who gain exceptional numbers of rewards.
