MODERN-HEBREW (Ivrit) has played a major
role in the revival of the Jewish people
since the establishment of the State of
Israel (1948) and long before. At King
David high School we seek to give all
students a positive experience of the
language, together with the love and
strong connection to Israel.
|
Our aims
are:
-
Giving
the students the basic skills which
will enable them to communicate in
Hebrew, in every day life.
-
Developing a strong grammatical
basis and vocabulary which will
enable the students to explore
various topics in Hebrew.
-
Getting
acquainted with a variety of topics
connected to Israel’s history,
society and literature.
-
Including Israeli and Jewish themes,
such as holidays, events in Israel
and the Jewish world, in order to
develop a strong connection and love
for Israel.

The Modern
Hebrew department offers a range of
levels in Hebrew: most of our students
already have the knowledge of basic
reading and writing at the end of
primary school and we continue this
development with support from the basic
learning of the Alef–Beit , through to
acquiring grammar and the use of
language, and then onto the GCSE and
AS/A2-level courses.
Currently
we follow the the AQA Exam board for
GCSE and AS/A2-Level studies.
