“Our aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable working environment so that every student can develop a wide range of skills, regardless of their ability and enable them to reach their full potential.”

Design Technology   Food Technology   Graphics Products
These areas are taken up by every pupil in Year 7 – 9 in a carousel. Years 10 and 11 become a GCSE option with Graphic Products becoming an ‘A’ level Art option. The designing area has access to computers and colour printers with modelling facilities. The workshop area features multi-media equipment and furniture.

The subject is offered to every pupil and each pupil will have experience of food technology up to year 9. It is a GCSE subject as well as an A level option. The kitchen area is fully kosher and is classed as a ‘milky’ area. It has recently been refurbished and has a range of resources. The Food Technology Department has maintained excellent results and high standards both at GCSE and A level for the past 5 years.

Graphic Products is one of a suite of Design Technology GCSE’s. If forms one of the most popular GCSE subjects. As a full GCSE it was designed to cater for students interested in problem solving using visual material to convey new ideas. Emphasis is stressed on presenting ideas in 2D and 3D forms.

The syllabus is designed to provide opportunities in designing, making and evaluating, which focus on an exploration of spaces using visual impact and communication (an artistic ability greatly helps with the freehand design work).
