Mr Frankell’s
excellent guide on applying to
universities covers all areas of
the application process and was
given out at the UCAS evening
and can be downloaded from
the website.
The main website for
university applications
is
www.ucas.com
and includes advice on
all aspects of the
process including
choosing courses and
entry requirements, as
well as
writing personal
statements.
You can access the free
Stamford test from the
website, which suggests
courses based on
students’ interests, as
well as the more in
depth
centigrade test.
This provides more
detailed analysis of
students’ interests for
the cost of £15.
www.prospects.ac.uk
is the UK’s official
graduate careers website
and provides useful
information on choosing
courses and the kinds of
employment that they can
lead into.
The summer term of year
12 is a good time to
visit university open
days, although please
note that we only allow
students to miss three
days of school to do so.
There is a calendar of
the various
universities’ open days
at:
http://www.opendays.com/calendar/
These websites
are by no means
exhaustive and
many other
universities
offer their own
advice on
applying.
Finally
http://www.bis.gov.uk/studentfinance
provides the
latest
information from
the government
regarding the
changes in
tuition fees for
universities
from September
2012.
